My Personal Testimony
I grew up in a little Street in Lurgan with "2 up/2down". I am the oldest of 10 Children so it was quite a squeeze! I was brought up in the Roman Catholic faith and I attended Church regularly. I always believed that if I believed in God and attended Church and did good deeds then I had a pretty fair chance of going to Heaven when I died. As I grew older though I began questioning different beliefs and faiths including my own. I was quite open minded about different beliefs and opinions and liked to discuss Religion a lot! When I was 21 I was asked to a Gospel Meeting and decided to go even though I wasn't sure what my Family might think! I really enjoyed the evening and found the Music very uplifting. I heard the Gospel for the first time that night and I began to seriously consider my own beliefs more and more. I was invited to Lurgan Baptist Church to hear Pastor Willie Mullan and I liked it so much I decided to attend myself on a regular basis.Then one Thursday evening I decided to go to a Prayer Meeting, I didn't know at that time that only "born again Christians" attended that particular Meeting! But looking back I believe God was working in me.I listened to the different people praying and one man who prayed really made an impression on me and I felt something stirring within me. I knew at that point that if I died that night then I wouldn't be going to Heaven. I realised I was a sinner and needed to accept Jesus as my own and personal Saviour and ask Him into my life. There was no Church,no ritual prayers, no good deeds, no Idols, nothing I could do of myself that would allow me into Heaven. The ONLY WAY was by Grace through Faith in Jesus.I decided I would not be going home until I had made myself right with God. I spoke to Pastor Willie Mullan and with him beside me I asked Jesus into my heart and life! That was the most important decision of my life and since that day God has loved me unconditionally. I know I still fail Him at times but He is right there with me through the good times and the storms in my life.I desire to have a close relationship with Him and He leads me and guides me and gives me strength for each new day. As a Child of God I have the Holy Spirit living in me to help me walk with God and to be guided in God's will for my life. I read God's Word every day, His Word says: John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son; that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. What a WONDERFUL promise! Our Sovereign God created us all and He gives us every breath we take, everything we have belongs to Him. Every day we always have much to thank Him for and I just want to praise Him and obey Him here on earth until one day I will see Him face to face! The biggest and most important decision you can make in your life is to trust in Him as your Saviour!
